Clay Workshops

Venue: 25 Oakley St, Shrewsbury, SY3 7JX

Ruth Gibson Ceramics, invites you to come and join her to help create a clay mandala. This is a lovely family event where both adults and children can work together to experience hands-on clay work.

As Ruth says, the mark-making technique is straightforward and enjoyable, making it accessible to everyone. It is particularly suited to being shared among family members across generations, fostering creativity and togetherness.

During the workshop, you will gather natural materials such as leaves, grasses, seed heads, bark, and flowers, and start to create intricate surface decorations on pieces of clay. These elements are then used to develop beautiful patterns, enhancing the visual appeal of each clay tile. From there, you will taper long, organically shaped tiles, which will then be assembled into a group artwork by the end of the day.

Your collective work is designed to form a circle and is referred to as a Clay Mandala!

You can find more detailed information by visiting Ruth Gibson Ceramics.

These workshops will be assisted by two Fine Art students, Jessie and Jess, from Bristol UWE. They are both focussing on clay in their own practice and will be helping out, so if you’re interested in studying Fine Art, pop in and have a chat with them!

To take part in this wonderful creative process, you can choose from any of the following one hour workshops:

  • 10.30am - 11.30am

  • 12pm - 1pm

  • 2pm - 3pm
